A pact for living
The patients' alliance for chronic pain management. Launched by Hon. Gian Antonio Girelli and the Parliamentary Intergroup on Prevention and Risk Management.

There are many fronts and many small victories, many scientific societies, but… there is no national association of patients living with pain.
Lack of coordination
Existing associations are divided by individual conditions, creating a scenario of fragmentation in which the necessary steps to achieve goals are not delivered.
Lack of information
There is no national reference point to collect patients' needs. Despite legislative gains, a continuous push for information is missing.
Lack of persistence
Each association fights its own battle alone. Of the legislative gains, little has been implemented because the advocacy push was missing.
Building an Alliance
For access to care and for care pathways that work properly. Pursuing this goal is necessary in order to:
Unite and relaunch
The fight against chronic pain as a central issue of health policy, given how widespread it is and how it affects the lives of millions of people.
Take part
In creating sound planning to solve the health problem.
Fill the gap
In patient representation, to be present at the “right tables”, at the right moments, with the necessary strength and authority.
Stimulate
Therapeutic and management innovation, making it a real advantage for patients, in a way that is sustainable for the health system.
Harmonise
Care pathways and related health services, reducing regional disparities in access.
Inform
Provide information and training to patients and to the healthcare staff involved in delivering services.
